The Udawalawe National Park is situated just south of the central highlands and shows the visitors exotic animals in the wild. The reservoir, founded in 1972, has a total area of 30,000 hectares. Both nature and animal lovers will enjoy the monkeys, buffaloes, iguanas, snakes, crocodiles and a variety of bird species, with elephants being a special highlight. You can watch the impressive animals taking a bath or even just interacting with one another.
